AN OCEAN IN DANGER

The Ocean plays a major role in planetary regulation:

• It absorbs 30% of the planet's carbon dioxide.
• It produces 50% of the oxygen we breathe.

But the latest international reports reveal an alarming observation about his state of health.

Faced with the decline of the largest ecosystem on our planet, the UN is launching the Ocean Decade (2021-2030)  which brings together 10 major challenges over the next 10 years to create the ocean we want.

KRESK 4 OCEANS TAKES ON CHALLENGE NO. 1: UNDERSTANDING AND COMBATING MARINE POLLUTION

Ocean pollution has numerous impacts, particularly on marine biodiversity:

• Litter harms or hinders marine animals.
• Animals swallow plastics or microplastics.
• Plastic disperses toxic materials.
• Waste carries invasive species.

Between 4.8 and 12.7 million tonnes  of plastic end up in the oceans each year.

Only 9% of plastic  is recycled globally.

• UPCYCLING

In the Ocean, our waste is poison. Faced with this alarming observation of plastic pollution in the environment, La Fondation de la Mer and KRESK4OCEANS are combining their strength and committing to create, alongside local associations and startups, local plastic processing sectors.

• THE BLUE RACE

A digital educational platform in France, where our products are produced, in partnership with the French Sea Foundation and certified by French National Education, to embark on the adventure of protecting the oceans by following the Route du Rhum 2022 with François Gabart.
